B1G1 was founded in 2007 by Masami Sato, who brought together a group of small business owners with the idea to give back just by doing the things they do every day. This has now transformed into a global giving movement supporting hundreds of projects around the world supporting the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The brilliant concept means that simply by doing business as usual, we create giving stories that result in 100% of our donation going directly to the project we nominate, so each tie someone likes our Facebook page, signs a work order and pays an invoice, we plant fruiting trees and provide days of clean drinking water to those desperately needing it.

We were thrilled to be recognised for our contributions through B1g1 in 2021 by being a Finalist for the B1G1 award in the category of Most Giving Impacts, and more determined than ever to create more giving impacts each and every year.

Impact Com Tech has worked with our Generation Operations team at Origin Energy to develop a Digital Operator Round Information System (DORIS) PowerApps solution. The problem we faced was the previous check sheets were hand-written, labour-intensive and hard to track day-to-day. Impact Com Tech has transformed these onerous sheets into an easy-to-use, stable app connected to a central online check sheet. The app synchronises the completed tasks in near-to-real-time across all devices and continues to function through connectivity dropouts with seamless offline capabilities. We now have the ability to log plant issues instantly from the phone with photos and accurately measure when tasks are completed; this has transformed the daily experience for our operations teams on site. The app data remains within our existing SharePoint environment and is accessed securely through PowerApps. Impact Com Tech have been professional and responsive and continue to build PowerApps for a variety of departments within Origin Energy.

With the help of Impact Com Tech, we've been able to update some of our antiquated systems like our membership database from Access to SharePoint Environment. This has allowed us to streamline those processes to reduce the workload on our volunteers. From the membership application point of view, it feeds into SharePoint environment, which allows us to approve those members and from there it goes into our MYOB accounting processing system to accounts then also links to our security system to enable and disable security access to the base. Unfortunately, we were victims of Crypto last year, and with the help from Impact Com Tech and the systems they have implemented for us, we recovered very quickly at minimum cost. Impact Com Tech have been very instrumental in significantly reducing the workload for our volunteers.​
